Dear Young Living Members:
As the Founder and CEO of Young Living, I feel compelled to express my feelings and those of my executive team on a very important matter. We have had tremendous growth over the last couple of years, which is a result of great products, a great compensation plan, and you, our wonderful members. We all feel excited about our powerful message of wellness, purpose, and abundance; and we want to share that excitement and message with everyone.
However, in our enthusiasm, we can sometimes forget where we fit in the world of natural health. As we grow, it is critical to keep track of everything that everyone is saying about and doing with our products. For this reason, and in order to achieve my vision of taking our amazing products into every home, we all need to do our part to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as the regulations issued and enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (the FDA). Please make sure that you and your organizations are only using materials that are in compliance with the guidance set forth by Young Living’s Legal and Compliance departments.
For example, some members become so excited to share the benefits of essential oils that they want to create their own products using Young Living products as an ingredient or Young Living’s name on the labels of such products. They then make their own claims about these products. We cannot allow this to continue. If you have your own product(s) on the market that use Young Living products or labels, you must (1) Discontinue these products immediately or (2) Remove all references to Young Living ingredients or labels. If this behavior doesn’t stop, Young Living’s Legal and Compliance departments will be forced to educate, warn, and eventually terminate your account. Strong as it may seem, this action is required for the protection of all of our Young Living family.
Similarly, these rules apply to product claims that either directly or indirectly imply that Young Living products may be effective in diagnosing, treating, curing, or preventing a disease or abnormal function of an animal or human body (“disease claims”). As we have consistently stated, we are not about disease claims. We don’t talk about disease, and we don’t treat and cure disease. We are about lifestyle and strengthening the body through nutrition and the power of essential oils. When we do this, the body will take care of itself. We are about self-improvement and living life to the fullest. Everyone is different and no two products are the same; therefore, no two people respond to our products the exact same way. By simply supporting and strengthening the body with a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, everyone can have his or her own individual experience without trying to narrow it down to a specific product for a specific problem.
We have millions of members and customers worldwide; and as a result, we request your assistance in teaching and complying with these important rules. Therefore, I am asking all of you, and especially our Diamonds, to monitor your own behavior, as well as that of your organization, and report any misconduct to Young Living’s Legal and Compliance departments at Conduct@YoungLiving.com. Any report you submit regarding misconduct will be kept strictly confidential.
In order to preserve a bright future for ourselves and our children, and to be able to enjoy the wonderful products that we all love, we must be compliant with all laws and abide by the Young Living Policies and Procedures. Importantly, as it relates to disease claims, Section 5.3.1 states:
You are prohibited from making inaccurate and impermissible claims about any of Young Living’s products. In particular, you must not make any claim that Young Living’s products are intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. You must also avoid making any statements and claims that are false or misleading concerning Young Living’s products or compensation plans. You must comply with all laws, both state and federal, regarding any statements made.
You also must not diagnose any disease or disease condition or prescribe any Young Living product unless you are a licensed medical professional authorized to do so. Anyone improperly diagnosing or prescribing Young Living’s products may jeopardize the future of Young Living and all of its members and may therefore have his/her sales organization terminated.
Young Living takes the violation of this policy very seriously and has partnered with a third-party software service to report all incidences of disease claims that are not aligned with Young Living’s Policies and Procedures and federal regulations. As mentioned above, we will take disciplinary action that includes suspension of your account and even termination of your account for violations.
No one is exempt, including me, and I expect our leaders to be teaching the proper way to present our products and to be actively watching for anyone who is in violation, knowingly or unknowingly. I am placing a responsibility on all Young Living members to diligently monitor their individual organizations for anyone in violation. Sometimes members say the wrong thing because they just don’t know what to say. Please continue to teach them.
If you write your own materials, you must ensure that such materials comply with all applicable rules. When in doubt about a particular rule, it is always safe to use the materials and wording provided by Young Living.
Young Living has an ongoing plan to continually produce information and materials to educate all members on how to share Young Living the right way. Some of these educational tools are found at the following URLs:

Can and Can’t Videos a.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GLGJVkEj1g b.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTxUOEH4amE Mary and I value all of our members and appreciate so much all those who work daily to bring Young Living’s quality products into homes worldwide. We must work together to protect each other and all Young Living businesses and customers, and we MUST sell our products in compliance with all laws and regulations. We are so grateful for our wonderful, loyal members who continue to spread the joy of Mother Nature’s gift of essential oils. Please train the members in your organization on how to share Young Living the right way, so we all can enjoy the benefits of Young Living products for a long, happy, and prosperous future.

Scott Ekberg’s Aspartame Nightmare
Below is my personal story about aspartame poisoning Let me first start off by giving everyone a little personal history about myself. I am 6 feet tall and have been heavy all my life. At present I am 249 lbs. I guess the weight comes from liking to eat, and liking my Pepsi. I am presently 47 yrs old. Approximately 4 years ago, in 1993, my employer, Lockheed Martin, during a yearly routine physical, told me I was “dumping” sugar in my urine. So off to the doctor I went. The tests the doctor had performed confirmed I had type II Diabetes. They told me that I could control it by diet. So, being scared and concerned, I switched to using Equal in my coffee (about 4 CUPS a day), and I started using Diet Pepsi, about 3 cans a day. What followed was nothing short of a nightmare.
At NO time did I associate my medical symptoms with my use of aspartame. For the next 3 years, I had daily headaches. I always passed these off as “sleeping on my pillow wrong”, as I like to sleep with my pillow between my head and upper arm, on my side. I also had severe heartburn. So much so that I would consume the largest bottle of Rolaids in 3 weeks. This I
thought to be related to the fact that I “like to eat”, and I also liked spicy foods. My wife now tells me that she and my mother also noticed my moods changing for the worse. My son did too I guess. I was cranky almost all the time. I kept telling my wife it was from “lack of sex”. We came very near divorce. After about two and one half years, I also started experiencing severe insomnia. I was a zombie at work. I would only get 2-hrs sleep every night. My memory went to pot quickly. I would forget the simplest things, and forget trying to remember anyone’s name. During this time, rny eyesight went bad , VERY quickly! My family doesn’t have a history of eyesight problems at such early ages. Both parents didn’t wear glasses until real late forties or early fifties. I, on the other had need them at age 43. It seemed that one-week I was fine, the boom, bifocals, I lost 55 Ibs. initially, and since I had always been heavy, everyone in the family was pleased, including myself. I was the biggest salesman for aspartame there could ever be. Then, quite mysteriously, 15 Ibs. came back quickly, with no change in diet. It happened in a matter of weeks. By now, I had purchased a brood glucose machine, to monitor my sugar, and to say the least, it was ALL over the place. I was also having regular check-ups and blood tests by the doctor. My cholesterol levels skyrocketed. Now I was on medication for it, and my sugar. My whole physical and mental well being seemed to be falling apart. If it wasn’t for my family, I think suicide would have been my next step. Although we never discussed it, I just couldn’t do that to my family, but the thought crossed my mind several times. Finally about 8 months ago, I started having dizzy spells. They were very mild at first, but grew more frequent, and more severe. I went to the doctor again, worried that the years of abuse of my body, and produced a clogged artery in my neck, thereby causing the dizziness. More tests were performed, and the doctor gave me the “I don’t know” answer for the cause of the dizzy spells. He said it was vertigo, and prescribed more medication. He also scheduled me for a “fasting blood test”, whereby I wasn’t suppose to eat anything after 6 PM the night before. The next morning, no headache, and no vertigo. Great … just when I was going to have a blood test to help find the problem, I felt great! So, I mixed my thermos of coffee, laced with 3 packages. of Equal, got in the truck, and went to the lab for my blood test. After bleeding for the vampires, I headed off to work, drinking my coffee. When I got to work, about 20 mins later, I had a dizzy spell. One so bad that my boss caught me and stopped me from falling over backwards. That IS when the light bulb came on. I started to think what I had done to cause this spell, and realized the ONLY thing was to drink coffee Sweetened with aspartame.?! I immediately searched the internet, and stumbled upon Mark Gold’s sight and Mary Stoddard’s sight. Something way back in my mind remembered some sort of controversy about aspartame, a long while back. After reading for an hour or so, I said to myself “I’ll bet THIS is what is causing my problems”. All my symptoms were listed in these sights, and I was convinced that aspartame was the culprit.
For 7 months now, I have been off the aspartame, and I feel great. ALL of my problems have gone away, except my diabetes, which is now controlled by 5mg medication. My eyesight and my memory have improved, but I fear they are permanently and irreversibly damaged. BUT … ALL the headaches and heartburn, bad moods and anxiety attacks are GONE … TOTALL Y. Except when my eenage son gets under my skin … aha …. like all teens. I had one event in the 7 months to re-confirm the cause. While out fishing in my boat with a friend, I ran out of ice water to drink. Here in Florida, in the summer time, everyone drinks a lot of fluids because of the heat and humidity. So, I drank 1 Diet Coke of my friends. I figured it wouldn’t hurt …. WRONG!!! That night I’couldn’t read the text on my computer …. even WITH my glasses, and the next morning 1 had a 4 Advil headache like none I’ve never had. Bet I’ll never knowingly consume aspartame again!!!! I now have decided that I will not rest until aspartame is banned from the American diet. END OF STORY!!!!

As we enter into the New Year, It is good to set a new Goal in what you want to do with your business. When we are at different levels we have different goals.
It is good to set a huge goal, but as you look at that goal and when you want to attain that goal, then step back and take a good look at it. From here you should look at the steps you have to take to attain the large goal. Now take a new piece of paper and start by writing a small goal to attain a next goal .For example . Lets Just say I am a new member. I would like to be a diamond. This will not happen overnight.
The first goal then would be to sponsor three people the first week. Now we have 3 people that need to have some training. Help them fill out there first order, then have them invite 3 people over and help them to sponsor 3 more.. now we have 9
Now encourage them to do the same with those new member. And you also sponsor 3 more yourself. Now you have 33. Now you should have a class on the oils, so they know what they are for. It would be a good idea to introduce the Essential oils desk reference to them. When they have a question about a oil you can ask did you look it up in the desk reference? This is dup;icatable.
Then in no time you will reach your first level of achievement. Now do the same thing for the next goal. A large goal is made by reaching smaller goals along the way.
.Think of it like a mother bird teaching her young to move on. The sooner they fly the nest to hold classes on their own the sooner you can help a new member to get started.

Products:
At this time of the year I like to keep the humidifier going and we put the Theives oil in with the water. Not only does it smell great but it also helps to kill off the germs that seem to find there way in. It also keeps the humidifier fresh smelling.
I put several oils in this newsletter for the diffuser. I especially like the Christmas Spirit.
Christmas Spirit
A purifying blend of evergreen, citrus, and spice, reminiscent of winter holidays, and brings joy, peace, happiness, and security.
Ingredients:
Orange (Citrus sinensis) is elevating to the mind and body, bringing security, joy, and peace.

It is highly antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. It brings back memories of wassail,
homecooked food, and fond memories of the holidays.
9Spruce (Picea mariana) helps the respiratory and nervous systems. It is anti-infectious, antiseptic,
and anti-inflammatory. Its aromatic influences help to open and release emotional blocks, bringing
about a feeling of balance and grounding.
Traditionally, spruce oil was believed to possess the frequency of prosperity. This oil brings memories
of Christmas trees and makes the whole house feel more like home during the holidays.
